Change Explorer.exe Permission

1. Go to Computer. Select C: (Your Windows 7 File system Install Directory). Choose WINDOWS folder.

2. Find explorer.exe, Right click & choose properties.

3. Choose Tabs Security and choose advance. (Img 1 Below).

4. Choose Tabs Owner and choose edit. (Img 2 Below).

5. Select your user name (not the Administrators) & click OK. (Img 3 Below).

6. In here click edit. (Img 4 Below).

7. Choose you user name other than SYSTEM or Administrators. Tick the Full Control. (Img 5 Below).

8. Click OK & OK one time.

Before rename, go to Window >Organize >F older & Search Option > View
and untick Hide extension for known file types. Click ok.

9. Rename the explorer.exe (that you made the security change) into explorer.exe.old for backup.

10. After that paste here the modify one. Now you have the modify explorer.exe.

  1. When I did the above and restarted my pc,my explorer.exe did not start and it said-"CLASS NOT REGISTERED"
    Please tell me how to overcome that and apply the new explorer.exe.I have Windows7(x64).
